About us
The Debenham Bowls Club is affiliated to both the Suffolk County BE bowls England and the Suffolk County Bowling Association.
It is a fully mixed club with equal opportunities for ladies and gentlemen to take an active part in the life of the club. Debenham Bowling Green is regarded as one of the best in Suffolk and is regularly used by the County for Quarter and Semi Finals of County Competitions. We also enter various County Cups and Competitions and details can be found on the fixture list. Members also take part in external competitions and some have recently won County and National Championships. |
When does the season run?
Our season runs from the end of April to early September. We have an excellent green which consists of 6 rinks.
We take part in several league games, playing on a Monday evening which is a mixed league, Wednesday evening is a men only league and Thursday evenings which again is a mixed team.

Is it for me?
The game of bowls has so much to offer, keeping active , friendship and a chance to enjoy what is a wonderful sport enabling people to engage in outdoor socialising and exercise.
We welcome new members either those who move to the village and have experience of playing bowls or complete newcomers. It's never to late to enjoy a new challenge and the opportunity to make new friends. We also like to think we are a very caring club and help club members out in other situations.
Games generally take one and a half to two hours.
Friday afternoons the club is open from 2pm -
for all members and non members to come along for friendly games , also for people who would like to come along and see what the game of bowls is all about. This has proved to be a very enjoyable afternoon with a break for refreshments which enables us to chat with each other especially with visitors who have come along for a taste and see.

I feel I'd need some help to get started. Do you provide tuition?
Some of our experienced Bowlers are always happy to provide guidance and tuition to anyone interested in taking up this enjoyable sport. Coaching by qualified County Coaches can be arranged.
I don't bowl, but would like to come and watch - is that possible?
Absolutely! Spectators are always very welcome at any of these fixtures and we do not charge admission.
