Sometimes the fire alarm may activate due to a false alarm. If this happens you will need to follow certain procedures to deal with the activation. You will receive a telephone call from the monitoring service asking if you require the Fire Service. If you have confirmed that there is no fire, then you would advise that the Fire Service is not required. Below is a step-by-step guide to silence the alarms.
We have 2 Fire alarm panels within the centre. The MAIN Fire Alarm panel is situated next to the sliding doors in the lobby of the main entrance to the sports side. (See pics below)
There Is also a repeater panel located in the Community Centre Lobby, next to store cupboard and window. (See pics below)
Both panels operate the same. Please see procedure below. (N.B. there is a delay of a couple of seconds to silence from CC panel).
Procedure for resetting the alarm after a false alarm has been triggered.
1) Upon the fire alarm activating, evacuate the building
2) Once confirmed there is no fire within the building, the appointed fire officer for the premises should approach the panel and press silence followed by mute panel ONLY
3) The panel will display the area which has caused the alarm to sound
4) Identify the area and look for a detector or a manual call point with a red LED glowing (this will be the device which activated)
5) If the area is smoky/dusty, ventilate the area to ensure the area is free of smoke/dust by opening the doors/windows.
6) Return to the fire alarm panel and press reset
7) If the fire alarm immediately activates again, press silence and mute panel again
8) Contact Anglian Security to arrange for an engineer to attend site.
