Fire Evacuation Procedures: - Community Centre and Sports Hall ComplexThe Alarm in the Sports Complex is a continuous ringing bell. The Alarm in the Community Centre is a high/low pitched wailer. The systems are tested every Thursday morning between 1000 hours and 1200 hrs. The fire alarm will sound for a maximum of 10 seconds. If the alarm sounds for longer than this you must evacuate using the procedure below. At all other times you must evacuate as soon as the fire alarm sounds. If you discover a fireRaise the alarm by activating the nearest Break Glass Unit. Do not attempt to tackle a fire unless it is safe to do so.
Fire Action Notices are displayed throughout the Sports complex and Community Centre. You should familiarise yourself with these instructions so that in the event of the alarm sounding you know what to do.
Evacuate as soon as the alarm sounds - do not go out of your way to collect personal belongings
Follow the emergency exit signs to facilitate your safe exit. Your nearest safe emergency exit will not necessarily be the normal exit route therefore it is important you follow the signage.
If it is safe to do so:
Stop/close down all electrical equipment
Isolate electrical supplies to equipment
Gas cylinders
Fire Marshalls will check each area of both Buildings and then report to the Fire Assembly Point.
On leaving the building make your way to the designated Fire Assembly Point (Bus Shelter in main car park) which is indicated on Fire Action Notices throughout the buildings.
Staff on duty will call the duty manager if they are not already there
Remain at the Assembly Point until given instruction to do otherwise
Do not under any circumstances re-enter the building until given authority to do so.

The role of the Fire Marshall is to assist with the evacuation process by checking both buildings have been evacuated, if safe to do so, and reporting to the Fire Officer.
No Fire Marshall is expected to place themself in danger, they should check the area swiftly and then report to the Fire Officer.
Once they have reported to the Fire Officer they should go to the Fire Assembly Point and await instructions from the Fire Officer.
