Storing Money and Banking of cash and cheques needs to be undertaken in line with the requirements set out in our Insurance arrangements. These are currently: - Banking MoneyWhen money is paid into a bank it must be undertaken by at least 2 persons. The Business Manager will ensure that any money in transit will be accompanied by: -
Over £2000 - £5000 at least 2 persons
Over £5000 - £8000 at least 3 persons
Over £8000 at least 4 persons
Persons must be the Business/General Manager, Directors or employees.
Securing and Storing Money
The maximum amount of money held on site at any one time should not exceed £6,600
The maximum amount of money held in the underground safe should not exceed £4,500
The maximum amount of money held in other secure devices should not exceed £2,100
A complete record is kept of all money whether held in a secure place or safe. All staff are responsible for keeping these records, see cashing up procedures.
Staff must ensure that the safe is kept locked at all times, other than when removing floats and returning them at the end of their shift.
Only the Business and General Manager will have access to the under floor safe.
When closed for business it is the responsibility of all staff (inclusive of Zeera Takeaway) to ensure that the premises is secured and that all security devices are put into full operation.
Cashing up Procedure
Reception – Card-Only “Mini Till” Collect the Daily Takings Sheet from the Reception drawer. On the card machine:
· Open the main screen on card machine · Press the middle button · Select Totals. · Print the totals report. · Reset the totals.
To close the till: · Return to the till screen. · Tap the three lines in the top left corner. · Select Admin → Close Till. · Enter the card total shown on the printed report. · The system will show the total and highlight any discrepancies. · Tap Close, place the closing receipt into the takings bag, and record the card amount on the Daily Takings Sheet.

Remove the float from the till: Typically £125, occasionally £250. Set the float aside.
Count all remaining cash in the till. Record the cash totals on the Daily Takings Sheet. Add up the cash total and enter it into the till.
Card Totals & Till Closure Follow the same process as Reception: · Totals → Print → Reset → Admin → Close Till → Enter card amount. Place all takings and the float into the takings bag. Store the bag securely in the safe.
