Open Mic Nights
We have 2 Open Mic Nights a month. Stand & Deliver a good mix of Genres and even Poets whilst our Folk Night provides a wide range of Folk music. Check out our events page for details. Read a little of what happened at the last Stand & Deliver.
Friday 28th saw the latest of our 'open mic' nights.
After starting off with a couple of my favourites, Jacqui Dew joined in on piano for 'Fishermans Blues'.
She then played 3 numbers including a nice version of 'Walk On By' & was then joined by Chloe Murray - making her debut at 'Stand & Deliver.'
Chloe sang 'Till It Happens' & 'Hurt' with her lovely vocals.
Next up was Neil, who in fine form included 2 Chris Stapleton covers - 'Whiskey & You' a stand-out I thought.
Local-renowned poet Leila entertained us next with 4 of her own fine works.
J.J. took us into the interval with an anecdote, followed by 3 top tunes including Roger Whittakers' 'Durham Town'.
After a short break & more beer (my sister-in-law went to the bar!), Tony D. took to the stage.
Firstly with Neil & then 3 with wife Pauline which included 'I Fall To Pieces' & ' I'll Be Your Baby Tonight'.
Another new guest Ricardo then entertained us, playing 3 excellent pieces on his Portuguese guitar. Fantastic!
Nick & Margaret were next with 3 songs including 'Only You'. Nick rounded off with some nice Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Nick H. with his own 'Birds that fly in the dark' among his 3, was followed by Gary with 'Norwegian Wood'
& his ever popular version of 'Golden Brown'.
I then joined him on harmonica & another good night was rounded up with Dylans' 'Just Like A Woman'.
Next 'Stand & Deliver' will be Friday 26th May - which will see us celebrating several birthdays.
So - cake is likely to figure!
Hope to see you all there,
